We are oh so close to finalising all our Wynnum Wolves FC Academy Girls teams for the 2026 season!

All our Academy Girls – from Under 10s through to Under 17s – will play in Academy League 1 fixtures next year. Wolves will also have a strong U17 MJL team working alongside our Academy 17 Girls to further strengthen the depth of the girls’ program, which is now in its third year.

Female football has grown rapidly at Wynnum Wolves over the past few years.

Starting with a limited Girls’ Academy in 2024, and then progressing to a full suite of girls’ teams in Academy 2 in 2025, we’re super proud to have now reached a point where we’ll be stepping into 2026 with a total of seven Academy League 1 Girls teams under our umbrella for next season, as well as a talented 17s MJL group working in tandem with our Academy 1 17s.

At this point of pre-season, we’re excited to have completed our 12s to 17s Girls recruitment for 2026 – apart from a key Under 14 Girls Goalkeeper position which is still up for grabs.

In addition to a 14s keeper to complete what is shaping up as a strong 2026 Academy 14s team, WWFC Goalkeeper Coach Dean May is also on the hunt for an U11 goalkeeper and a 17s MJL keeper to join the Academy program. Interested keepers can contact Dean directly via goalkeeping@wynnumwolvesfc.com.au.

WWFC Academy Girls Technical Director, Rebecca Greer, has been impressed with the enthusiasm, commitment and talent of our girls over the opening weeks of pre-season training throughout November and is confident the girls will make a solid transition to League 1 football next year.

There remain only a few spots still to finalise in our younger age groups at Under 10s and Under 11s for 2026. Rebecca is keen to hear from any young girls turning 9, 10 or 11 next year who are eager to develop and learn in a structured Academy environment. Players interested in exploring this opportunity to join a quality Academy League 1 program are encouraged to reach out to Rebecca via academygirls@wynnumwolvesfc.com.au

Female football is also thriving in the community girls’ space at Wolves, with great depth across our community girls’ teams – from Under 8s to Under 17s – underpinning the club’s upward Academy trajectory.

Early indications are that Wolves will field at least one or two dedicated girls’ teams in every age group from Under 8 MiniRoos to Under 17 Metro Girls in the upcoming season. Way to go, girls!

Community enquiries are now being taken via the following links, with registrations opening to players outside our club in late November.
