Wynnum Wolves FC has expanded both football and cultural horizons for a group of its young players who have been enjoying the “trip of a lifetime” in India this week. A group of 12 young Wynnum players—aged 12-15—jetted out for Chennai last Friday (January 17) on the 10-day football trip hosted by the Murugappa Youth Football Academy, which offers opportunities for underprivileged children in Chennai to gain access to sporting and cultural opportunities through football.
The trip has included training, matches, and a host of wonderful cultural exchanges for the players and staff, who have made the most of every minute to soak up the amazing sights, sounds, and senses of India and its burgeoning fascination with football.
The idea for the tour was initiated by MYFA via its partnership with Borussia Dortmund, with key representatives from both MYFA and Wynnum Wolves FC having first met in Dortmund two years ago. Both Wynnum and MYFA—under the umbrella of BVB—share a passion for using the power of football to foster personal growth and forge long-lasting international connections.
We’re excited for the players to share all their amazing stories about the trip on their return to Brisbane next week.
