BECOME OUR NEXT BIG SIGNING

Wynnum Wolves Football Club caters for male and female players of all ages and abilities by offering access to both community and performance teams from juniors through to the senior ranks each season.

Traditionally, community teams begin playing around March each year while the club’s performance teams begin trials as early as October each year for the following season.

Programs, packages and prices for 2022 have recently been finalised by the club’s committee in readiness to welcome players into our community and performance programs for the upcoming season.

On the back of a memorable Centenary Year, which saw playing numbers grow to in excess of 600 across the club, early indications are that this strong growth in numbers at community level will continue in 2022.

Performance team numbers are capped by the number of teams the club is able to enter in the higher level competitions.

All players are encouraged to submit an expressions of interest NOW to join the Wolf Pack in 2022 via the links in each section below.

This will help the club enormously with planning as we work to put coaches in place for all our teams and programs for the new season.

Wynnum Wolves FC will once again offer a Wolf Cubs Kick-Off program for 3 to 5-year-old players for the 2022 season.

Wolf Cubs Kick-Off is a fun, introductory program designed to get youngsters started on their football journey so they can discover what the fun of football is all about.

The weekly 45-minute sessions enable our pint-sized players to build confidence and basic skills through simple games and drills in a welcoming, fun, engaging and inclusive environment.

Every young player is given plenty of time on the ball with the primary aim of each session being for the youngsters to get active and share in heaps of smiles as they build fundamental motor skills.

Each child who signs up to the program receives a MiniRoos participant pack when they register which includes a ball and other goodies.

Both boys and girls are welcome to join in the fun of Wolf Cubs Kick-Off.

The Wolf Cubs Kick-Off program is organised and overseen by Wynnum Wolves FC Masters player and volunteer coach, Vince Atkinson (pictured), who is assisted by an enthusiastic group of young players who have come through the club’s community and performance team ranks and are keen to get involved in coaching the little ones.

At Wynnum we offer our Wolf Cubs Kick-Off program in bite-sized blocks, so busy families don’t have to commit for an entire season. Although once you’ve joined in the fun, we’ve found the majority are keen to sign up for subsequent blocks.

WOLF CUBS SKILLS

5 – 7 YEARS

Wynnum Wolves FC offers an in-house training and games program for players aged 5-7 years of age called the Wolf Cubs Skills program.

This program is directed and personally overseen by the club’s Pro Licence Technical Director, Claudio Canosa, who leads an enthusiastic team of young Wolves players who are just starting out on their coaching journeys.

Claudio will also be joined throughout the season by club’s Academy Development Program Technical Director, Andre Meyer [progressing to A Licence] and Head of Women’s Football, Jake Moyle [progressing to A Licence] to help deliver this high-quality skills training program for the club’s emerging young brigade.

Wolf Cubs Skills is held on Saturday mornings at Carmichael Park with the core aim of the program to give our young Wolf Cubs an early introduction to the foundational skills of the game in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.

Players are led through 45 minutes of skills training followed by 45 minutes of in-house games each Saturday morning between 8.00 and 9.30am.

While the young Wolf Cubs are out on the pitch, parents can sit back, sip a coffee and watch their kids enjoy their football. Volunteer Wolf Cubs Skills Co-Ordinator, Raynesh Kaylan, is one of these parents who loves watching his children enjoy the Saturday morning sessions at the Wolf Den. He will be on hand most Saturday mornings at Carmichael Park to assist parents with any enquiries and connect them with key personnel at the club.

Both boys and girls are able to sign-up for Wolf Cubs Skills. The All-Girls group was popular in Term 4 last year and will continue in 2022.

Participation in these Saturday morning skills sessions helps to equip young players – aged between 5 and 7 – with the necessary skills to build confidence for when they step up to join a community team at Wynnum Wolves FC at the age of 8.

We also offer our Wolf Cubs Skills program in bite-sized blocks, so busy families don’t have to commit for an entire season. Although – just like Wolf Cubs Kick-Off – once you’ve joined in the fun, we’ve found the majority are keen to sign up for subsequent blocks.

Mini Roos

8 – 11 YEARS

Wynnum Wolves FC fields MiniRoos teams from Under 8s to Under 12s in the Metro South sector of the Brisbane competition. This means teams play home and away matches within the immediate geographic area of Wynnum, so families don’t have to travel too far afield for any away games.

Our MiniRoos teams train once a week at the club’s grounds under the direction of a volunteer coach and manager – usually drawn from our parent members. We also encourage our older players to assist with coaching these teams where possible. The club also supports its volunteer coaches to participate in Community Coach Education courses which are run by Football Queensland.

MiniRoos games are played on Saturday mornings during the season, both home and away. Teams play on smaller fields and with modified rules and smaller numbers on the pitch – either 7v7 for the Under 8s and 9s and 9v9 for the Under 10s, 11s and 12s. Having fewer players leads to a more enjoyable game with more opportunity for players to touch the ball, score a goal and enjoy a positive experience.

MiniRoos competition introduces young players to the basic concepts of team play in a friendly environment. Players are encouraged to continue building on their foundational skills as they prepare to transition to 11v11 full-field football from the age of 13. We have found that young players who have come through the Wolf Cubs Kick-Off and Wolf Cubs Skills programs from 3 to 7-years of age have already gained a great grounding in foundational skills by the time they progress to MiniRoos competition level.

The emphasis in MiniRoos is ALWAYS on participation, fun, engagement, inclusiveness and a strong sense of community as feedback shows that this enjoyment-first approach – over and above an emphasis on winning at this level of competition – leads to young players continuing to play and stay engaged with the game for longer.

Wynnum Wolves FC offers boys, mixed and all-girls teams at MiniRoos level. The club has set optimal team sizes in 2022 – a maximum of 10-11 players per team at Under 8 and Under 9 level (7v7) and a maximum of 12-13 players per team at Under 10, 11 and 12 level (9v9).

We aim to allocate ALL teams a minimum quarter field for training on their training day each week. Based on current numbers it is anticipated the number of teams in each MiniRoos age group will be caped during 2022 to enable to club to adequately cater for training needs of all teams throughout the week.

Generally, our training days for MiniRoos are: All-Girls teams – Mondays; Under 8s Boys and Mixed – Mondays; Under 9s and 10s Boys and Mixed – Wednesdays; Under 11s and 12s Boys and Mixed – Thursdays.

Our 2022 MiniRoos Schedule

March MiniRoos Muster

Come and Try and Sign-On Days will be held on Saturday mornings – March 19th and 26th and April 2nd between 9am and 10.30am. Young players will do skills training and in-house games with our team of coaches – led by club Technical Director, Claudio Canosa.

Team formations will be organised before the Easter break once numbers are close to being finalised. At this point we will be calling for parents to assist with coaching and managing teams. The Metro South Mini Roos competition will officially kick-off after the Easter school holiday break. The competition runs through until September but breaks over each school-holiday period.

Note: Even if you can’t attend the March Muster Days you can still sign up for a place in one of our teams [see registration details below].
