Wynnum Wolves FC vs St George Willawong
The Wolves will be keen to put their first points on the board as they host NPL newcomers St George Willawong for Round 4 of their NPL campaign this Sunday.
Both sides in the fixture are yet to pick up their first win this NPL season, with St George’s solitary point coming from a 1-1 draw with fellow NPL new boys Eastern Suburbs.
Due to both sides’ respective meteoric rise through the Queensland Football pyramid, there is a real lack of history between the two clubs, with this weekend marking the first competitive fixture played between the Wolves and St George Willawong in a number of years.
Wolves supporters should also look forward to potential starts for goal machine and last season’s NPL Men’s top scorer, Luke Francis, as well as new boy Jez Lofthouse, both of whom return from their respective injury woes.
Jez had this to say about the upcoming clash:
“Similar to us (Wolves) last year, they’ve come up and have a point to prove,” adding, “We’ve had a good week at training, and we’re excited to get back into it.”
A reminder that despite this being a home fixture, it will be played at Perry Park, with Carmichael Park not yet ready to host games due to facility damage following Cyclone Alfred.
The match will be live-streamed here, with kick-off set for 5PM
