MiniRoos Numbers Explode at Wynnum Wolves FC for the 2025 season
The club will field a total of 52 MiniRoos teams for the upcoming season, which includes Wynnum’s U9 Academy Boys team, plus seven (7) Pathways Development teams across the Under 8s to Under 12 age groups, playing at Kangaroos level.
The majority of Wynnum’s MiniRoos teams will play in the Wallabies division of the competition. This means there will be over 600 juniors playing in our 8s to 12s teams in 2025.
The club has just made the unprecedented move to close its MiniRoos registration portal for the upcoming season. There are currently fewer than 10 spaces remaining across our MiniRoos teams for 2025, as follows:
- U12 Girls: 3 spaces
- U11 Boys: 4 spaces
- U9 Girls: 1 space
- U8 Boys: 1 space
If interested in any of these spots, please email our club registrar, Bianca, via registrar@wynnumwolvesfc.com.au who can assist with your registration.
“The numbers in MiniRoos are incredible this year,” said Wynnum Wolves Football Director, Richard Greer. “We’ve seen amazing growth across all age groups, but especially in the girls’ space.”
“We will be fielding two (2) All-Girls’ MiniRoos teams in every age group from 8s to 12s this year, which is truly fantastic as this will support the growth of our Academy girls’ program going forward.”
“Girls have traditionally been slower starters when it comes to football, so to see so many 7, 8, and 9-year-old girls getting started with us this year is a great vote of confidence for what we’re now doing in the girls’ space at our club.”
Wynnum’s MiniRoos Muster Days are planned to get underway later next week — weather permitting — and all teams will soon start training at Carmichael Park in readiness for the start of competition after the Easter school holidays. To view the MiniRoos Key Dates Calendar, click here
Greer said the club would have two dedicated staff members guiding its volunteer MiniRoos coaches this season:
- Adam Krayem (Pathways Technical Director, B Licence candidate)
- Davide Dalla Pozza (U18s Academy Coach, A Licence)
They will prepare session plans, set standards, and oversee the organization of training nights for our MiniRoos teams.
One of our dedicated MiniRoos club coaches, Grant McCoy, has taken on the role of MiniRoos Liaison — working alongside Adam and Davide to guide the MiniRoos program throughout 2025. Grant is currently handling all MiniRoos inquiries via miniroos@wynnumwolvesfc.com.au
“These MiniRoos youngsters are the future of our club,” Greer said. “It’s this space — especially in the younger age groups — where our future Academy players come from.”
“We’ve seen over the past few years many young MiniRoos come through these teams into our Academy and Pathways teams.”
“But it’s important not to forget that MiniRoos is predominantly about the kids having fun, being able to play with their friends, enjoying the wonderful game of football, and feeling they are a valued part of our great community club.
