Female football is booming at Wynnum Wolves FC with 2026 shaping up as an exciting one for the club’s top women’s team which currently plays in the FQPL 3 League. After finishing in the top four and contesting finals for the very first time last season, head coach Peter Merefield will have his sights set firmly on finals – and even better – in 2026. The ultimate goal – promotion to FQPL 2.
Adding to a solid core of returning players from Season 2025, the 2026 Wolves’ women’s squad will again reap the benefits of the club’s strong Academy Girls’ program which is spearheading the growth of female football at Wynnum. A number of strong and talented players will graduate from Wolves’ Girls Acadmey into the women’s team this year while the club will also add a few new faces to the fold.

Just like the top men’s squad, the FQPL 3 Women’s team at Wolves is strongly supported by the club with high-level coaching, free registration and full involvement of the club’s High Performance team looking after the women’s First team players.

This team trains three times a week under the direction of a highly experienced and accomplished coach in Peter Merefield and plays weekend home and away matches in the FQPL 3 women’s league.
