2027 EOIs now open – find out more
There is scope for everyone to play competitive football at Wynnum Wolves FC. From the age of eight right through to our seasoned Masters, we have a team for you – whether you want to take your football a little more seriously or are keen to play more socially with your friends.
Keen to still play competitive men’s football at community level? One of our Metro Men’s teams could be for you. Wynnum Wolves FC enters teams into Football Queensland’s Metro Men’s competition each season to cater for players from 18 years and above who are keen to continue playing competitive football at a great community club.
Our Metro Men’s teams generally train once a week under the direction of volunteer coaches and managers and then play matches on either Friday evenings, Saturdays or Sundays – both home and away. The majority of home matches are played at Carmichael Park on Friday evenings.
Teams are graded each season at an appropriate level to ensure maximum enjoyment for players from the highly competitive Metro 1 division to the more social lower-level divisions. This enables everyone to compete against teams of a similar, but challenging level.
Trials are normally held for our Metro Division 1 and 2 teams, at the more serious end of the competition while players are able to sign-on for the lower-level Metro teams at Wolves.
Teams play a full season of competitive football followed by a finals’ series for the top four teams in each division. Competition games in the Metro Men’s League usually get underway in March each year and continue through until August / September when finals are held.
In 2025 Wynnum Wolves FC is expected to field the following Metro Men’s teams:
Metro 1
Metro 2/3
Metro 4
Metro 6/7
Our Metro Women’s teams sit below our FQPL women’s squads to provide a competitive football fix for female players who love the game and want to continue with their football beyond the junior ranks. In line with the Metro Men, our women’s teams play home and away matches in a league format and generally train once a week with a volunteer coach / manager. Our Metro 1 Women’s team will train twice a week under an experienced coach.
Matches can be played either Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays with the home games mostly played at our home ground of Carmichael Park on a Friday evening. Teams are graded at an appropriate level each season to try to ensure maximum enjoyment for players in a “best-fit” division. Each team plays a full season of competitive football followed by a finals’ series for the top teams in each division.
Trials are held for our Metro 1 women’s team at Wynnum – as a younger back-up team back-up team to our FQPL Women – while sign-on is offered to fill the lower Metro divisions where vacancies exist.
Wynnum Wolves FC is expected to fill the following Metro Women’s teams in 2025:
Metro 1
Metro 3/4
Metro 5/6
Wynnum Wolves FC has a strong community football program for juniors and each year endeavours to offer teams in all age groups – across various divisions – from Under 13s to Under 18s.
Club trials are held, when necessary, to select higher level teams in each age group – to compete in either MJL or Division 1 – however players can generally sign-on at the beginning of each year to play community football at Wolves based on interest levels and vacancies that exist within each age group.
Team grading is held for all Under 13 teams each year as this is the entry level to Metro Junior competition. These grading games are usually held in March each year meaning the Under 13 teams generally get underway a little earlier than other teams.
All 14s to 18s teams are placed in the most appropriate division based on registrations, player experience and results from previous seasons.
MJL and Division 1 teams in each age group generally train twice a week under the guidance of a suitably experienced coach while all lower-division teams train once a week at the club’s home ground of Carmichael Park, usually with a volunteer coach.
There are often multiple teams available in each age group to cater for the needs of those who are little more serious about their football and those who are social players at community level who want to play with their friends.
Wynnum Wolves FC is expected to field the following Metro Boys teams in 2025:
Under 13 – MJL or Division 1
Under 13 – Division 2
Under 13 – Division 3

Under 16 Division 1

Wynnum Wolves FC has built the depth of its girls’ community football program over recent years to a point where the club has high hopes to be able to field at least one girls’ team in each age group from Under 13s to Under 17s in 2025.
Generally, interested girls will be able to sign-on to join a community girls’ team at the beginning of the year. Trials will only be held at Metro Girls level if there is a need to fill multiple teams in an age group.
As with the Metro Boys, team grading is held by Football Queensland for all Under 13 teams each year as this is the entry level to Metro Junior competition. These grading games are usually held in March each year meaning the Under 13 teams will normally get underway a little earlier than other teams.
All 14s to 17s teams are placed in the most appropriate division based on registrations, player experience and results from previous seasons.
MJL and Division 1 teams in each age group generally train twice a week under the guidance of a suitably experienced coach while all lower-division teams train once a week at the club’s home ground of Carmichael Park, usually with a volunteer coach.

MiniRoos is the entry level for junior teams at Wynnum Wolves FC.
Our club starts MiniRoos at Under 8s with all teams playing home and away matches on Saturday mornings and early afternoons throughout the season, which generally runs across Terms 2 and 3 of each school year.
To start the season, Wolves organises Team Muster events in February/ March once families have settled back into the school year and Football Queensland has confirmed its start dates for the new season. These dates will be advised to all families as soon as they are locked in. MiniRoos teams train one night a week under the guidance of a volunteer parent coach who follows a structured plan provided by the club’s qualified Technical staff.
Wolves will also be offering pre-season MiniRoos Carnivals for all age groups during Term 1 in 2026 to give teams the chance to enjoy an earlier start to the season, meet their new teammates and enjoy the fun atmosphere of carnival football at Carmichael Park – the home of Wolves. Dates for these events will be advertised in late January.
Generally, clubs across the MiniRoos competition are grouped in geographic hubs by Football Queensland to ensure travel to away games is manageable for MiniRoos families. Wynnum Wolves FC teams generally play in the southern MiniRoos hub.
MiniRoos is a non-competitive league which means no match scores are recorded and there are no league tables or finals. MiniRoos is all about having fun, learning the fundamental skills of football in a team environment, playing with friends and meeting many new friends through football.
Wolves FC offers both boys and girls teams at MiniRoos level, however individual girls can also choose to play in a mixed team if they prefer.Under 8 and Under 9 MiniRoos teams play a 7 v 7 format in matches which steps up to 9 v 9 matches for the Under 10s, Under 11s and Under 12s.
There are three different levels of MiniRoos Boys/Mixed competition offered by Football Queensland – Kangaroos, Wallabies and Quokkas. Two divisions are offered for the girls – Bilbies and Joeys – depending on the number of team nominations in each girls’ age group. Teams are nominated into the most appropriate level based on assessments made by the club’s Technical staff.
Wynnum Wolves FC expects to field the following number of MiniRoos teams in 2026. All teams are already filling quickly with a limited number of vacancies in each age group as indicated in the column on the right in the table below.
