Wynnum Wolves is super excited to be launching a new coaching program in Term 4 this year to be known as the Alpha Wolf Academy.

Wolves Football Director, Richard Greer, said the introduction of the Alpha Wolf Academy was in response to many current Wynnum players and families expressing a desire to access additional training sessions, in unison with the high volume of enquiries from parents outside the club wanting to get their children involved in football at Wynnum.

“It’s exciting to have so much interest in the club and this is a way we can meet the needs of our existing families and others from outside the club,” he said.

The Alpha Wolf program will offer small group training aimed at providing additional opportunities for players to improve their technique within the four-core skills plus ball mastery. Sessions will run as small groups, up to a maximum of 10 players, with players to be grouped with those of similar ability in order to maximise opportunities for touches on the ball. Sessions will focus on key elements such as First touch, striking the ball, running with the ball and 1v1 situations in and out of possession.

Young players of all ages and abilities can access these training programs – even those new to football – as all groups will be graded according to the ability and experience of participants.

In addition, small group goalkeeping sessions will be on offer under the Alpha Wolf Academy banner, while our experienced coaching line-up will also align with the team from Trained by Science to offer an Off-Season Athletic Development Program at Wynnum aimed at improving football fitness components which will also help with injury prevention for players.

Alpha Wolf Academy coaches will include Wolves’ Technical staff members Richard Greer, Jae Son, Sam Kim, Adam Krayem, Bec Holt and Frank Monteverde. More coaches will be added as the program grows including specialist coaches for session-specific training. The off-season strength and conditioning program will be run by highly respected Exercise Physiologists Jamie Wilson and Chris Cooper who currently lead the High Performance Unit at Wolves.
