ABOUT US
Founded in 1921, Wynnum Wolves Football Club is one of the oldest extant football clubs in Queensland. We have enjoyed a proud history in the round ball game over 105+ years and have experienced unprecedented growth as a club since celebrating our Centenary in 2021. Junior numbers are continuing on an upwards trajectory at Wynnum. Our women’s and Academy Girls program, and our community girls’ numbers, have exploded over recent seasons, contributing significantly to much of this growth. Our Academy Junior and Youth teams – both boys and girls – have earned promotion to the top level of Academy football in Queensland and our men have now established themselves as a fixture in the top-flight – the National Premier League competition in Queensland.
Carmichael Park is the cherished home of Wynnum Wolves FC. This impressive fit-for-purpose football facility is situated in the Brisbane bayside suburb of Tingalpa, the gateway to Brisbane’s beautiful bayside. The complex features four full-sized football pitches – all under lights – plus a fifth junior pitch which caters for Under 10 – 12 matches at both Academy and community level. The club has also developed a first-class, dedicated training pitch for goalkeepers. This is an enviable addition few community clubs in Australia can boast.
Thanks to the support of Brisbane City Council new LED lights were added at the start of the 2024 season to ensure quality lighting on every pitch for both training and matches. This coincided with the club’s entry into the NPL Men’s competition following back-to-back promotions earned by our men.
While our clubhouse and office facilities were devastated in February 2022 by the freak rain event and floods that hit the southeast of the State, the club community has worked tirelessly over the past four seasons to rebound and put in place workable temporary facilities to tide us over until work can begin on the building of our new home. Further flooding in 2025 – the result of Cyclone Alfred – sadly caused additional damage and delays to the club’s rebuilding efforts.
Plans for our new home – the Clare Polkinghorne Centre – have been completed and once this dedicated Centre of Excellence for Football is built it will elevate the club to yet another level. This project is set to get under way in late 2026.
In the interim, Wynnum’s temporary office and canteen space has served us well over the past four seasons – creating an “Eat Street” vibe for both members and visitors to the club. Our two dressing room blocks have been refurbished to cater for both home and away teams at our venue. We have a new fully functioning medical room at the centre of the complex, a dedicated coaching office for our fulltime technical staff to operate from, and a fully operational, temporary gym for our players.
Much of the restoration work at Carmichael Park since our Centenary Year in 2021 has been achieved through the amazing resilience and pride of the Wynnum Wolves FC community and its amazing supporters. Many hearts, minds and hands have bonded together to shape the rebuild of our great club and make our temporary facilities still feel like home.
It was at the end of 2024 that the club’s committee unveiled plans for the building of the Clare Polkinghorne Centre which will be a first-class, purpose-built football facility for our community. The completion of this centre – projected for 2028 – will elevate the club’s ability to cater for both its current members and prospective major football events, including visiting national and international teams at Wynnum. The Wynnum committee has worked in step with all levels of government to bring plans for the Clare Polkinghorne Football Centre to fruition.
*Clare Polkinghorne – one of Australia’s most capped international footballers – began her prodigious career as a Wynnum junior on the fields of Carmichael Park.
While officially referred to as a “southside club”, the location of Carmichael Park is both central and convenient – just a 20-minute drive from Brisbane’s central business district via Wynnum Road; a quick 15-minute commute from Brisbane’s Domestic and International Airports; and ease of access from both north and south via the Gateway Arterial Road.
Once considered a parochial “bayside club”, Wynnum in more recent years has drawn its player and membership base not only from the local bayside area, but from all points north, south and west of the club across Brisbane.
We pride ourselves on offering an inclusive, welcoming community environment that provides an opportunity for anyone – regardless of age, gender or skill level – to find a suitable level of football or involvement at Wynnum Wolves FC.

Carmichael Park has been the home of Wynnum Wolves FC since the early 1990s following a decision by the club’s then committee to sell up and move from its spiritual home of Maramba -which boasted only one field and a modest clubhouse. The motivation behind that historic decision was to give the club an opportunity to grow.
More than three decades later Wynnum Wolves FC has indeed grown to be one of the largest clubs in Brisbane with playing fields that are the envy of many other clubs in Brisbane.
While clubhouse facilities at Carmichael Park were devasted by the 2022 floods, exciting plans are in place to build a new state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Football which will set Wynnum Wolves FC apart from other clubs in Queensland.
Following the February 2022 floods our club membership demonstrated the power of community and resilience. As we continue to rebuild our facility, the spirit of Wolves is unbroken with plans in place for new state-of-the-art facilities to replace the old. Our five fields are now looking better than ever and our committee staff and club members have embraced the challenge make all our temporary facilities “feel like home” until our clubhouse can be rebuilt. There is a real sense of excitement and anticipation about what is to come
Carmichael Park’s central location connects us with players and fans across Brisbane. Our ethos of inclusivity sees us welcome individuals from all walks of life to experience football in a community-centric environment. From our youngest Wolf Cubs who hold centre court every Saturday morning, to our seasoned National Premier League men’s contenders who sit at the top of our club tree, we have you covered for fantastic football options every weekend throughout the season.
Men’s football has always been well established at Wynnum Wolves FC while the women’s game has ebbed and flowed throughout the club’s history.
2022 emerged as a milestone year for female football at Wolves as we re-introduced dedicated women’s and girls’ teams to the club. Two years on we are seeing the fruits of this female football revival with growing female numbers, burgeoning talent, dedicated investment and wonderful community support bolstering our female program which now reaches into the FPQL women’s and Academy Girls spaces.
