After several break-ins at Carmichael Park last year, resulting in theft and mindless vandalism, national shipping container company Royal Wolf stepped in, donating a shipping container to store and secure equipment.
It was a great gesture from a company who not only recognised Wynnum Wolves’ contribution to the community, but wanted play a role in keeping spirits high for the many volunteers who give their time for the greater good of grassroots sport.
“As a business we are proud to help an organisation with such a long-standing commitment to its local community.” ADRIAN RUSSELL
Wolves president, Rabieh Krayem, said the club was humbled to be singled out for the donation from Royal Wolf, with the theft valuable club equipment and the subsequent vandalism heartbreaking for club members.
“Even the kids couldn’t work it out. Why would someone come and steal from us? I think it shocked the kids, but I also think it united the club and brought our members together,” Rabieh said.
“But when you see the number of kids here and the growth we’re experiencing, you know that this club means a lot more than just a football team. It’s part of the community; part of the fabric of Wynnum.
“Despite vandalism, despite stealing, despite financial hardship, we united as a club and looked after our own. There are a lot of good people here.”
Equipment can now be stored safely thanks to Royal Wolf
Royal Wolf National Production Manager, Adrian Russell, said Royal Wolf had a proud history of supporting community organisations and is always willing to play its part to help a community in need, hoping the donation of a shipping container would give the club peace of mind, knowing their property was secure.
“As a business, we are proud to help an organisation with such a long-standing commitment to its local community. We wish Wynnum Wolves every success for their next 100 years,” he said.
